If you choose to create your own artwork, please read through our printing specifications to ensure a trouble-free print. Do not hesitate to contact us for clarification or help.
All color artwork and/or images must be provided in CMYK (cyan, magenta, yellow, and black) for color printing. We do not print in RGB. Artwork that is in RGB mode will print out differently than CMYK. Please be sure you to convert all colors to CMYK in your file and/or images.
Please save your file with a new name and outline all text/fonts. This will convert all of the text to graphics, so there will be no font issues. Failure to do this will risk missing the font in the final product.
You should build your artwork file with at least 1/16" added to each side. For example: A flyer with a final size of 8-1/2" x 11" with bleeds would need art size of
8-5/8" x 11-1/8". A business cards with bleeds should be 3-5/8 x 2-1/8.
Please keep all important text and graphics at least 1/8 inch inside the page edge/trim line.
Package the files you’ve used for easy handoff. When you package a file, you create a folder that contains the document, all linked graphics, and a package report. This report, which is saved as a text file, includes the information about the packaged files. Place art and images at 100% of final size for the best print quality. No RGB or 72 dpi web graphics.
For large black areas (not type), we recommend using the following rich black build: cyan 60% magenta 40% yellow 40% black 100%. Rich Black is also referred to as Dense Black or Super Black.
When we are looking at our designs on a computer screen, the display shows color using the RGB color model (Red, Green, Blue). For printing, the CMYK color model is used (Cyan Magenta, Yellow and Black).
If your blue color has too much red/magenta in it, it might look blue on your screen, but will appear purple when printed. To avoid your blue ink from coming out too purple, the key rule of thumb is to make sure to leave at least a 30% difference in your Cyan and Magenta values. For example,if your dark blue has 100% cyan, make the magenta less than 70%.
Scroll down for our standard print templates.
We accept the following formats: EPS - AI - INDD - PDF - PSD - JPG - PNG - TIF - TIFF.
All file formats must be high resolution for the best print quality: a minimum of 300 dpi. For larger banners and signs, please create your file at 150 dpi. Files provided that are below 300 dpi will cause the final print to be pixelated & blurry. Some text may not be legible; especially smaller fonts.
For the best print quality, we recommend no less than 300 DPI. Files must be ORIGINALLY CREATED and saved this way. If you have a low resolution jpeg, and save it as a pdf file, it will still be low resolution, and will print blurry.
Microsoft Publisher, Powerpoint, Word and Excel: these files are in RGB format, which is not a print format. These files are not print ready and will need to be converted to CMYK colors before printing. Other known issues are lack of printing bleeds, column/panels are off when folding, and blues may appear purple when printing on larger equipment. Please refer to our printing templates for your layouts. If you give us a microsoft file, a file charge and delays in your order may occur.
Please proofread and test print your files before submitting them for print. Make a mock-up: print a copy, cut-out & fold up...does copy fall on correct panels? Print color separations...do you see the correct CMYK color separations? Additional charges apply if we need to modify your files. We are not responsible for errors in supplied files.
We provide PDF files as electronic soft proofs. These digital proofs intend to show you the layout and design elements of your job, but cannot be a guarantee of color accuracy. If color accuracy is of extreme importance to you, we may be able to provide a hard proof. Hard proofs are typically printed on an output device that is cheaper to print on than a larger press.
We do not usually do press proofs because they take a considerable amount of time to set up, lowering turnaround times and increasing costs. However, they are sometimes available for very large orders.
